A. Overview

Located about 2 hours from Dallas and 1 hour from Shreveport, Louisiana, Kilgore, Texas offers students an all-American experience in a safe, small college town setting. Enjoy the yearround cultural arts and theater events, as well as outdoor treks around the many lakes and state parks. The majority of students in Kilgore live on-campus and enjoy the benefts of the tight-knit community. Founded in 1935, Kilgore College was established at the height of the 1930s oil boom. The College is home to the East Texas Oil Museum, which houses a large collection of memorabilia documenting this prosperous time in Texan history. Kilgore, the “city of stars”, proudly hosts the Texas Shakespeare Festival every year. Founded in 1986, the Festival presents four rotating shows every summer at the Van Cliburn Auditorium on Kilgore College’s campus. Kilgore College is a publicly supported, two-year comprehensive community college offering post-secondary educational opportunities. KC serves more than 11,000 students each year in academic, continuing education, workforce development, and adult education programs.
